Languedoc Beaches - the good, the bad and the ugly
France gay nude beaches
Montpellier is 15kms from the sea so if you want to hang out at the beach you need to head to one of the nearby beach towns; La Grande Motte, Carnon Plage or Palavas Les Flots. La Grande Motte is the farthest of the three beaches but by far the nicest. What I love about the Grande Motte is the quirky architecture. Built in the 60s, most of the buildings are in a similar pyramid-like style and even new builds must conform to this 60s look.
Gay South of France
It has long been considered as the second gay-friendly city in France after Paris. Montpellier still has a lot to offer, and it is an ideal place to explore the coast and its famous gay-friendly beaches. When traveling in the South of France, or if you are on the road to Barcelona and Sitges, a stop in Montpellier is therefore essential.
