Got an SLR with thumbhole and brake. Thanks much. It's been a while but I believe you must have 6 US parts, to alter the gun into a 'domesticly produced' gun. The US muzzle thingy extra, and its gotta be permanently attached. BTW, the thumbhole stock on the Bulgarian guns can be modified into a sweet AK-style stock, but longer and with a larger butt like most people seem to want for the AK.

A lot of people don't like the SLR's sporter thumbhole stock because it's ugly, but I like it because it's light-weight, comfortable to shoot, and shortens the length-of-pull from a standard AK stock. I've seen slow-motion videos of stamped-receiver AKs flexing like wet-noodles when fired, definitely not helping accuracy at all.
